A Tale of Two Pitchers

Just for shits and giggles, take a look at the 2018 stats for two right handed major league pitchers, both in their mid-twenties:

Pitcher APitcher B
Games3411
W-L1-21-5
IP56.055.2
ERA4.344.20
K7264
BB3410
K:BB Ratio2.1:16.4:1
WHIP1.451.10
BA Against0.2260.208

If you were building a team, which of these pitchers would you select. A? B? Both of them? Neither of them?

After hearing from all you knowledgeable baseball folk out there, I will identify both pitchers.

  1. A reliever and a starter. A.- Too many walks. B.- Must not get much run support, with that record. E.R.A.s are almost acceptable in today's game. If they are that young, maybe they'll improve.
