For Loyal Reader BigPoppy

I'd just like to include a couple of pictures for one of the Grandstander's loyal readers, BigPoppy. These are from my trip to the Masters in 2008. I just know that he will appreciate them :-)

  1. For those readers who are wondering why The Grandstander would highlight "Big Poppy" in the above, it's because I took a shot at the revered Masters Tournament's (tacky) logo, replicated even in a flower bed? (yechh).

Bob, I've never been to the Masters, and would love to go. Then, I too, could stand on Magnolia Lane ... set for the day - dressed to kill! Bucket hat, binoculars, admission ticket, and ... could that be a fanny-pack under your 'Members Only' jacket?

Have a great time in Augusta, enjoy the course, and please, PLEASE, don't buy me any over-priced gifts bearing that pretentious, TACKY, logo! (HA-HA)

  2. Bob ... One more thing, and it's a compliment: Joanne and I both agree that you absolutely bear a definite resemblance to your Dad in the above photo. Anyone ... agree? disagree?

  3. Both the jacket and the bucket hat were from the 2007 US Open at Oakmont (talk about being pretentious!). I also believe that I was traveling with a fanny pack that day. One does need a place to hold the camera, which is permitted during practice rounds.

As for the resemblance comment, I do indeed take it as a compliment, and Mrs. Grandstander would be the first to agree with you! She is known to refer to me as "Little Frank" on occasion.

  4. I don't see the resemblance. Then again, twins don't often look alike to me, so I am a bad test case.

Poppy is on to something with that logo.
