Watched the third period, OT, and shoot out of the Canada-Switzerland hockey game tonight. Now THAT was compelling TV!
I also heard that John Shuster blew another potential game-winning throw (slide?) for the USA in men's curling today. That's four such "blown saves" in three days. The commentator on CNBC said that Internet postings are comparing him to Bill Buckner and Scott Norwood. No mention of the Ralph Branca reference posted by Yours Truly.
Just for fun – Googled John Shuster. He’s from Chisholm, Minnesota. The same small town as Archie Moonlight Graham of “Field of Dreams” fame. Not sure what this means. Probably nothing.
ReplyDeleteDave, all I know is that John Shuster has slipped waayyyyy done on my Fantasy Curling draft list.
ReplyDeleteYou curling buffs may be on to something - there are nine hours of curling availabe today.
ReplyDeleteNot that it's related, but I saw this week that there are only three sporting events watched by more women than men: The Winter Olympics, the Summer Olympics, and the Kentucky Derby. (Do they watch the latter to look at hats?)
As I say, I don't know who they are feeding so much curling to.
Shuffle board was very popular in Philadelphi in my college days. If you like shuffleboard, bocce, and petanque, you gotta love curling.
Would never have guessed the Derby, but you may be onto something with the hats!
ReplyDeleteThat surprised me as well. It must be the hats or that it is a must social event. It could be second to the Super Bowl in home parties, but I don't think I will research it.
ReplyDeleteDid not notice earlier, but congratulations to Dave on posting a curling picture. One more proof that indeed everything is on the internet.
Not just a curling picture, but John Shuster himself!!!
ReplyDeleteWell done, Dave, indeed!!!
