I've Got That "Wheelin' Feelin' "

The trip to Wheeling Island proved to be a successful one for The Grandstander. I was dealt a blackjack on the first hand of the day and that was a good omen. The cards just went my way today and I more than doubled my stake in just a little under an hour. I also had the good sense - for once! - to cash out when I did.

Fittingly, when we got in the car to come home, the first song we heard on the radio was Elvis singing "Viva Las Vegas." Honest to God!

Unfortunately, Marilyn did not fare quite as well at the slots machines. However, when we got home, we learned that we are getting a refund from the IRS when one was not expected, so that more than made up for the bad luck with the one armed bandits.

  1. Congratulations on cleaning up at the Blackjack Table.

To continue your full disclosure policy, you must pledge to let us know of any nights - should there be one - when it takes less effort to lift your wallet.

I know one of the readers of your post that spent an entire football season telling me nothing every Monday but of all the games he had won on over the weekend. During pre-Super Bowl week, I asked said reader if he was up or down for the season. I got a short, quiet response, "Down".

  2. Full disclosure re trips to Casinos is a policy of mine. I finished slightly in the red in Vegas last fall (but had enough trips to table that were winners to make it not so painful), and a visit to the Rivers Casino in November produced a loss of about seventy-five bucks. I will wait for the table games to arrive before I visit the Rivers Casino again.

And my football bets in Las Vegas last fall were complete disasters.

    How's that for full disclosure??

  3. Appreciate the disclosures. Also gave me a chance to say hello to one of your West Coast readers.
